  • College will eat your life

I kind of want to blog again. I know we all say that every time we get on here, but I mean it. And I think his is the perfect venue - odds are pretty slim that anyone will read it (although I do always get the occassional "2 views" which I mus admit disturbs me a little and makes me wonder just what calibre of cyberfreak is a-creepin' on me), and it's a throwback very time I get on. Plus I no longer remember a wood without wifi, so I could update all the time from my iPod... Yeah, the more I talk about it the less I believe I will actually follow through. Nice thought though, right? Today I did nothing but draw banners and write articles and watch tv. I guess I walked up to the house and helped Terry withe her speech for a bit. That was a nice change of pace. I should remember that for Petal Points (I won't). Doing a lot of thinking tonight - never good. I can't complete a thought... Time for bed.

  • 2010, over and out.

    1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?  Went to college.  Oh, and an interesting one?  Um...  had a one-year anniversary.

    2. Did you keep the new years resolutions you made last year? Resolutions, psshhh... who needs 'em?

    3. Did anyone close to you give birth? I hope not, I wouldn't want to be nearby... Nope.

    4. Did anyone close to you die? No.

    5. What countries did you visit? An awful lot of the U.S. of A.  Well and West Virginia.

    6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010? A lifeplan?

    7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory?  Shoot, now you're asking me to remember things.  Ok, graduation and all related activities in May.  June 3rd, that was my anniversary!  And every monthiversary we had also.  September 10th - Bid Day.  It was WHOA exciting.  October 22nd - a concert that night, and Big/Little Reveal... yet another crazy-exciting day.  And November 19th and 20th, which may have changed my life forever, all because of three little letters with so much meaning.  I'll say the concert on December 11th too, that was pretty cool.

    8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? I graduated pretty nice... made some nice grades in college too.

    9. What was your biggest failure? My lack of motivation in each and every aspect of my life.  Also, the month of November as far selfishness goes.

    10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Well, I got A LOT of shots.  They were all injury-making.

    11. What was the best thing you bought?  Hahaha, I'm probably going to have to say an article of clothing, but I really can't pick my favorite... Here's a Greek joke: the best thing I bought was friends.  But I guess my real answer is all the pictures that I had printed for my dorm room.  They remind me of all the people I love!

    12. Whose behavior merited celebration? Hmm... Conner's, for trying so hard in everything he does.  And Logan, for being awesome in general and actually missing me when I went away.  And Olivia, just for being there.

    13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? My own, sometimes.

    14. Where did most of your money go? College.  And the mall.

    15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Everything that's changed my life and made it wonderful in these past few months.  My new sisters, my old friends.

    16. What song will always remind you of 2010? Like a G6.  Hahaha actually, if we're thinking more serious songs... Glitter in the Air.

    17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

    a) happier or sadder? This might actually be tied for last year, as far as happiness goes.  Probably happier, since I was in school this time last year.

    b) thinner or fatter? The same, I think.

    c) richer or poorer? Richer in some ways... but so, so poor when it comes to money.

    18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Writing I guess, and keeping in touch with old friends, and working harder to get to know new ones.  And really trying to get a plan for my life.

    19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Procrastinating.  And being distracted in general.  Like now.

    20. Did you fall in love in 2010? Yes.  All over again.

    21. How many one-night stands? Gonna go with zero, I should say.

    22. What was your favorite TV program? Hmm... Glee I guess.  Although 30 Rock really outdid themselves this year.

    24. Do you dislike anyone now that you didn't dislike this time last year? Well, yes, but I didn't really know them last year.

    25. What was the best book you read? This is really hard.  I think the coolest book I read was Awakenings since I know the authors and my name is inside!!!!!  But I guess I'd have to go with... Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza.  Sad, but really mind-blowing.  Ooh wait, no.  I'm going with The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks for sure.  So crazy interesting.

    26. What was your greatest musical discovery? Haha, interesting question.  Probably the experience of listening to my own choir sing O Magnum and Christ the Appletree.  Or the experience of hearing Relient K at Musica, which is just an awesome venue to begin with.

    27. What did you want and get? New black boots, a new coat, and a college that I fell in love with.

    28. What did you want and not get? A perfect relationship, I guess.  But obviously I learned that there's no such thing.

    29. What was your favorite film of this year? Oh man... That came out this year?  I would honestly have to say that I most enjoyed the kid movies... Dispicable Me and Tangled.

    30. What did you do on your birthday? Went to school, if I'm remembering right.  I think I went out to dinner too, but I can never remember.

    31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Having received more scholarship money.

    32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010? Hmm... Prep School Girl turns Business Casual Chic, hahaha.

    33. What kept you sane? God and chocolate.

    34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Probably Sarah Palin.  No, in real life?  Um... ok, I thought that the new gay guy in Glee, the Very Potter Musical guy, was pretty cute.

    35. What political issue stirred you the most? The dispute over building a mosque near the World Trade Center.

    36. Who did you miss? EVERYONE.  Literally everyone in my life I missed at some point this year.

    37. Who was the best new person you met? Oh, wow.  This question is so weird, because there were so many people in my life this past year who were never in it before - and now I can't imagine life without them.  I'm going to have to say Olivia, Emily, Lindsey, Mary, Kiki... just everyone from Marietta!  They are all the best.

    38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010. Wish for what you want - work for what you need.

    39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

    Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes.

  • I think I realized why no one uses Xanga anymore.  It's because you don't have to be friends with someone to view everything about them, or to comment on all those things.  That's a little scary.

... I'm gonna go ahead and use it anyway.

I love my life right now.  It's a little overwhelming, sure, and a little foggy when we start to discuss the future and what I "want" to do with my life, right, but other than that I really love where I am.  I whole-heartedly believe that I have found the best place for me, the place where I belong, and I want nothing else than to throw myself into it.  I was actually a little sad to leave on Tuesday, and while it's nice to be home, it's also nice to be at school.  And not everyone can say that, and for that I am really grateful.

I've met some really amazing people.  I know I've only known them a while, but I feel as though we've been friends for life.  And I really hope it stays that way.

Work tomorrow, so I should get some sleep.
